Lefkada is a beautiful Ionian island, connected to the mainland by a bridge. The island is 35km in length and has a width of up to 15km with a population of about 23,000. The highest elevation is the mountain of Stavrotas (1,158m).
Lefkada has hardly been touched by mass tourism. The most active tourist centres are the main town on the east and Nydri, a little bit further north. There are two spectacular beaches on the west coast: Porto Katsiki and Kathisma. They are both very popular, particularly among the local residents. Despite tourism most places still hold on to their original character, especially the mountainous villages inland.
Travel
Lefkada is located about 120km south of Igoumenitsa and only 35km from Preveza. Flights are available from most major European cities to the airports of Preveza and Corfu. We are happy to pick you up from Preveza airport.
If travelling by car, you can catch a ferry in Italy from Trieste, Venice, Ancona, Bari or Brindisi. Ferries to Igoumenitsa sail daily in the summer season. Lefkada is within easy reach from Igoumenitsa; about a 90 minute drive.
